At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Fulmar, 7 Gannets, 9 Sandwich Terns, 5 Common Terns and 12 Little Terns. 6 Grey Plover, 1 Oystercatcher, 11 Dunlin, 6 Bar-tailed Godwits and a Turnstone were on the beach. A Greenshank flew over calling, and at least 2 Crossbills were in the pines but moblie.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Fulmar, 6 Gannets, 4 Little Gulls, 4 Sandwich Terns, 1 Common Tern and 2 Little Terns. A Barn Owl was hunting in the dunes early morning and a Marsh Harrier flew west.
Moth trapping produced 3 Privet Hawk Moths, 8 Scarce Footmen, 2 Yellow Tails, 1 Small Magpie, 1 Coomon Emerald, 7 Uncertain, 1 Clouded Border, 1 Shore Wainscot and a Brimstone Moth. Butterflies included Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper and Comma.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 36 Common Scoter, 1 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Fulmars, 15 Gannets, 107 Sandwich Terns, 24 Common Terns, 12 Little Terns, 28 Swifts south, 1 Sand Martin and 1 Swallow.
At Redwell Marsh 3 Avocets, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Ruff, 6+ Green Sandpipers, 5 Redshank, 3 Ruddy Ducks, 4 Little Grebes, 2 families of Tufted Ducks, a family of Pochard and a Snipe were of particular note.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 51 Common Scoter, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Fulmars, 31 Gannets, 69 Sandwich Terns, 29 Common Terns, 11 Little Terns and 1 Guillemot. 25 Whimbrel were of note together with 4 Little Gulls, 1 Barn Owl, 2 Sand Martins and 9 Crossbills.
Butterflies included Ringlet, Small White, Red Admiral and Gatekeeper
At Walsey Hills 2 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaff, 1 Marsh Harrier and a Green Sandpiper on Popes Marsh were of note. A Muntjac was on the reserve, and a Black-tailed Skimmer dragonfly, 11 Ringlets, 2 Commas and a Common Blue were also recorded.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 7 Common Scoter, 3 Fulmars, 3 Gannets, 1 Med Gull, 14 Little Gulls, 214 Sandwich Terns, 14 Common Terns and 12 Little Terns. Four House Martins flew through west and a Turtle Dove was on the reserve. A Lesser Whitethroat was singing and at least 2 Crossbills were in the pines mid morning.
Moth trapping included Privet, Poplar and Elephant Hawk Moths, 2 Peppered Moths, Common Emerald and Silver Y.
Sunday 29th June 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Fulmar, 150+ Sandwich Terns, 20 Common Terns, 1 Little Tern, and an adult Roseate Tern was again on the beach west of the seawatching point at 10.30am. A Little Egret, Water Rail and 3 Avocets were of note, and around the reserve a Turtle Dove was seen. 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 Reed Warbler and 2 Whitethroats were also of interest.
Moth trapping included an Elephant Hawk Moth, 1 Poplar Hawk Moth, 1 Peppered Moth, 1 Buff Arches, 1 Cream Bordered Green Pea, 1 Haworth's Pug and 6 Shore Wainscots.
On Redwell Marsh a Little Ringed Plover and a Ruff were of particular note.
Saturday 28th June 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced an adult Roseate Tern on the beach with Sandwich Terns at 10.30am, also 1 Fulmar, 122 Sandwich Terns and 3 Common Terns. A Marsh Harrier was hunting and 8 Avocets were of note. Three Turtle Doves, 1 Cuckoo, 15 Swifts, 2 Swallows, 4 House Martins, 2 Sedge Warblers, 1 Reed Warbler, 2 Lesser Whitethroats, 1 Whitethroat, 1 Goldcrest, 8 Long-tailed Tits, 10 Goldfinches and 3 Linnets were of interest. At least 2 Crossbills were in the pines early afternoon but mobile.
Butterflies included Small Skipper, Ringlet, Meadow Brown, Speckled Wood, Small Heath, Common Blue, and a Dark Green Fritillary flew west along the east bank around midday.
At Redwell Marsh a Black-tailed Godwit was of note.
Friday 27th June 2008
At Holme NOA 10 Sandwich Terns flew over the dunes and a Turtle Dove and a Cuckoo were of note. A Reed, one Sedge Warbler and a Whitethroat were also recorded.
Moth trapping included a Poplar Hawk Moth and a Striped Wainscot. Butterflies included a Small Skipper, a Ringlet, 1 Brown Argus and a Red Admiral.
At Redwell Marsh 2 Green Sandpipers were noted.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 3 Fulmars, 22 Gannets, 24 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns and 2 Little Terns. A Marsh Harrier, 12 Avocets and 3 Little Egrets were of note around the marsh, and on the reserve 1 Turtle Dove, 1 Barn Owl, 2 Sedge Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, 2 Whitethroats and a Goldcrest were of interest. A flock of 5 Crossbills were present but mobile for much of the day.
Moth trapping included a Plain Golden Y, 1 Peppered Moth, 1 Small Elephant Hawk, 1 Figure of 80 and a Cream Bordered Green Pea.
At Redwell Marsh 14 Black-tailed Godwits, 10+ Redshank and a Green Sandpiper were of note.

At Holme NOA a flock of 30+ Crossbills was in the pines and mobile from mid morning onwards. A Cuckoo, 12 Swifts, 20 Avocets, 2 Sedge Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers and a Turtle Dove were also of note.
Moth trapping included a Peppered Moth and a Small Elephant Hawk. A Red Admiral butterfly was also of note.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 40 Common Scoter, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Fulmars, 7 Gannets, 63 Sandwich Terns, 18 Common Terns and 27 Little Terns. A flock of 8 Crossbills was again around the reserve, and a Whimbrel and a Greenshank flew over calling.
Moth trapping included 1 Poplar Hawk, 8 Cinnabars, 5 Common Swifts, 1 Angle Shades, 1 Lyme Grass, 2 Peppered Moths and a Vine's Rustic.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 2 Common Scoter, 11 Sandwich Terns, 2 Common Terns and 5 Little Terns. A Hobby was hunting just beyond the Broadwater and a Cuckoo was also of note. A flock of 14+ Crossbills were in the pines mid afternoon and flew off south around 4pm. A Redpoll sp flew over west.
Moth trapping included 1 Eyed Hawk, 1 Privet Hawk, 1 Poplar Hawk, 2 Peppered Moths, 4 White Ermines, 1 Silver Y, 1 Figure of 80 and 1 Sand Dart. A Painted Lady butterfly was also of interest.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced a female Eider, 1 Fulmar, 7 Gannets, 5 Sandwich Terns, 1 Common Tern and 8 Little Terns. A Greenshank, 2 Avocets and 40 Golden Plover were of note around the marsh, and 2 Med Gulls flew over east. A Cuckoo and 3 Turtle Doves were of interest, and a Tawny Owl was in the pines. 10 Swallows, 3 House Martins, 30 Swifts, 1 Grasshopper Warbler, 4 Sedge Warblers, 6 Reed Warblers, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 3 Whitethroats, 1 Blackcap and a Chiffchaff were also recorded.
Moth trapping produced 1 Bordered White, 4 Cinnabars, 3 Yellow Belles, 1 Flame Shoulder, 1 Willow Beauty, 5 Common Swifts, 2 Small Square Spots, 2 Buff Ermines, 1 Mottled Rustic, 1 White Ermine, 1 Flame, 1 Mottled Beauty, 1 Riband Wave, 1 Dog's Tooth, 1 Fern and a Peppered Moth.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 12 Common Scoter, 5 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Fulmars, 7 Gannets and 8 Little Terns. At least two Icterine Warblers were present, one at the public car park near the golf course, and the other in scrub opposite the NOA car park. One was also heard near the Observatory early morning. A Red-throated Pipit was reported flying over the Observatory and a Grey-headed Wagtail perched briefly in willows nearby before flying off south. A singing Tree Pipit was in pines next to the Observatory. A Nightingale was in the paddocks in the early afternoon, and 2 Crossbills flew over calling. A female Redstart was trapped and ringed and a Northern Willow Warbler was also of note. Of interest were a Cuckoo, 2+ Turtle Doves, 1 Barn Owl, 20 Swallows, 6 House Martins, 34 Swifts, 3 Reed Warblers and 5 Whitethroats.
Moth trapping included 3 Small Elephant Hawks, 2 Northern Drabs, 19 Small Square Spots, 1 Light Brocade and a White Ermine. Butterflies included 1 Green Hairstreak, 3+ Small Coppers, 1 Small Heath and 2 Common Blues.
At Redwell Marsh an immature Little Gull was of note and at least 2 Common Sandpipers were also present.

A Turtle Dove was near the Observatory and a Cuckoo flew along the east bank. 1 Reed Warberl, 1 Lesser Whitethroat and 2 Whitethroats were also of note.
Butterflies included 1 Brimstone, 1 Red Admiral, 2 Small Coppers and 1 Small Heath. Moths included a Small Elephant Hawk, 3 Northern Drabs, 1 Pine Beauty, 11 Treble Lines, 1 Spectacle 2 Chinese Characters and a Mottled Rustic.

A Reed Warbler and a Lesser Whitethroat were noted and 25 Goldfinches and 34 Linnets were feeding in the pines. A single Wheatear was in the dunes.

A Cuckoo flew along the beach, 40 Swifts and 30 Swallows were of note. 2 Reed Warblers were singing in the reeds and at least 4 Whitethroats were around the reserve. 2 Turtle Doves were also of interest, and over 30 Linnets were counted.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 500+ Common Scoter, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Gannet, 11 Sandwich Terns, 2 Arctic Terns and 21 Little Terns. A Short-eared Owl was at the west end of the lavender marsh early morning and at least one Wheatear was still in the dunes. Waders of note included Whimbrel, Greenshank and 6 Avocets. 5 Little Egrets were also counted. Three Turtle Doves and 2 Cuckoos were of note, and 7 Swifts, 20 Swallows, 4 House Martins, a Lesser Whitethroat and 49 Linnets were also of interest.
Moth trapping included an Eyed Hawk Moth, V-Pug, a Least Black Arches, 10 Northern Drabs, 2 Chocolate Tips and 16 Yellow Belles. Butterflies included 3 Small Heaths, 2 Small Coppers and a Green Haristreak. A Large Red Damselfly was also of note.

At Holme NOA a Nightingale was singing in the paddocks and a female Ring Ouzel, 3 Wheatears, and a Whinchat were in the dunes. Also of note were 4 Turtle Doves, 5 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Cuckoos, 27 Linnets, a Green Sandpiper, 1 Garden Warbler, 3 Lesser Whitethroats, 12 Avocets and a Barn Owl. Sea-watching produced a drake Red-breasted Merganser, 10+ Gannets and 5 Little Terns.
At Redwell Marsh 6+ Wood Sandpipers, 2 Greenshank, 20+ Black-taled Godwits and 14 Ruff were of particular note.
Insect highlights included a Hairy Dragonfly, Wall Brown, Small Copper and Red Admiral butterflies, and in the moth traps White-spotted Pug, Waved Umber, Knot Grass, Purple Bar, Cinnabar and Brimstone.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 4 Eider, 15 Common Scoter, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 6 Fulmars, 9 Gannets, 7 Sandwich Terns, 4 Common Terns and 6 Little Terns. A Spotted Flycatcher was by the Observatory mid morning and a Whinchat and a Stonechat were in the dunes.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 17 Eider, 4 Velvet Scoter, 1000+ Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 1 Fulmar, 8 Gannets, 26 Sandwich Terns, 14 Common Terns, 1 Arctic Tern and 8 Little Terns. A Black Tern was seen over the marsh early afternoon. Migrants included 4 Whimbrel, a Turtle Dove, 1 Cuckoo, 25 Swallows east, a Yellow Wagtail west, and 49 Linnets east. In the dunes a male Whinchat and at least 4 Wheatears were of note, and a Nightingale was singing early morning in scrub west of Gore Point. Also of interest were 20 Sedge Warblers, 4 Reed Warblers, 9 Lesser Whitethroats, 18 Whitethroats, 2 Garden Warblers, 8 Blackcaps, 4 Chiffchaffs, 15 Willow Warblers and 3 Redpoll sp.
Moth trapping highlights were a Diamond-back, 1 Least Black Arches, a Herald, 1 Chocolate Tip, 1 Purple Thorn, 4 Northern Drabs, 3 Pine Beauties and 3 Cinnabar moths. Butterflies included a Wall Brown, 2 Orange Tips and a Green Hairstreak.

At Holme NOA seawatching throughout the day produced 5 Eider, 500 Common Scoter, 4 Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Fulmars, 27 Gannets, 32 Sandwich Terns, 19 Common Terns, 2 Little Terns, and 12 Black Terns. 2 Little Egrets, 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 1 Whimbrel and 1 Greenshank were of note, and a Merlin flew through the reserve late morning. A Cuckoo was along the east bank. 3 Swifts, 2 Sand Martins, 56 Swallows, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 2 Redpoll sp and 37 Linnets flew through during the day. On the reserve a Grasshopper Warbler was singing near the Car Park hide, 15 Sedge Warblers, 4 Reed Warblers, 8 Lesser Whitethroats, 21 Whitethroats, 6 Blackcaps, 2 Chiffchaffs, 4 Willow Warblers and 2 Goldcrests were of note. In the dunes 7 Wheatears and a male Whinchat were recorded.
Moth trapping included a Puss Moth, 1 Green Carpet, 2 Northern Drabs, a Muslin, a Chocolate Tip and a Swallow Prominent. Butterflies included Speckled Wood and Green-veined White.
At Redwell Marsh 2 Ruff and a Garden Warbler were of particular note.
At Walsey Hills a Common Rosefinch was reported briefly and then flew east.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 7 Eider, 250 Common Scoter, 23 Sandwich Terns, 11 Common Terns and 5 Little Terns. 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Hobbies, a probable Rough-legged Buzzard and a distant ring-tail Harrier species were noted during the afternoon. Waders included 14 Black-tailed Godwits and 19 Whimbrel. 7 Turtle Doves were between the paddocks and the Observatory, and 2 Cuckoos were also recorded. 189 Swifts, 6 Sand Martins, 114 Swallows and 15 House Martins flew through. 25 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Whinchat and at least 3 Wheatears were also noted. Around the reserve 12 Sedge Warblers, 3 Reed Warblers, 7 Lesser Whitethroats, 10 Whitethroats, 4 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs and 14 Willow Warblers were of interest. 11 Siskins and 67 Linnets were also counted during the day.
Moth trapping produced 2 Hebrew Characters, a Chocolate Tip, 1 Powdered Quaker, 1 Northern Drab, 1 Red Chestnut and a Swallow Prominent.

Around the reserve 9 Sedge Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 6 Whitethroats, 1 Chiffchaff, 8 Willow Warblers and 2 Blackcaps were of interest.

At Holme NOA a Grasshopper Warbler was singing near the reserve entrance early morning. A Cuckoo flew over the pines heading east and a Whimbrel was also of note. 50+ Swifts were counted and at least 6 Lesser Whitethroats, 5 Whitethroats, 2 Blackcaps and 12 Willow Warblers were on the reserve.
Moth trapping produced a single Powdered Quaker and a Nut-tree Tussock.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 250 Common Scoter, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Fulmars, 7 Gannets and 34 Sandwich Terns. On the marsh a Whimbrel, 6 Avocets and 6 Ruff were of note, and 7 Pink-footed Geese were of interest. At least 40 Swifts were around the observatory early afternoon and a Sand Martin, 17 Swallows and a House Martin also flew through. Four Yellow Wagtails flew over calling and a Cetti's Warbler, 20 Sedge Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, 6 Lesser Whitethroats, 8 Whitethroats, 5 Blackcaps, 1 Chiffchaff and 22 Willow Warblers were recorded. A single Siskin was also of note.

At Holme NOA migrants included 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Whimbrel, 1 Turtle Dove, 1 Cuckoo, 17 Swifts through west, 4+ Sand Martins, 28 Swallows, 2 House Martins, 4+ Tree Pipits, 7 Yellow Wagtails west, 4 Siskins and 7 Redpolls over the reserve. In the scrub 20 Sedge Warblers, 2 Reed Warblers, 6 Lesser Whitethroats, 10 Whitethroats 8 Blackcaps, 2 Chiffchaffs and 20 Willow Warblers, (including 2 northern Willow Warblers ringed at the Observatory this morning).
Moth trapping produced 2 Swallow Prominents, 1 Pebble Prominent, 1 Powdered Quaker, 1 Common Quaker, 5 Early Thorns, 2 Red Chestnuts, 2 Clouded Drabs, 1 Pine Beauty, 4 Hebrew Characters, 1 Double-striped Pug, 1 Nut-tree Tussock and 1 Shuttle-shaped Dart. Butterflies included 1 Brimstone, 7 Peacocks and a Large White.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 104 Common Scoter, 3 Fulmars, 11 Sandwich Terns and 3 Little Terns. A 1st summer Little Gull flew over the lavender marsh. Marsh Harrier and Hobby were of note, together with 10 Avocets, a single Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Greenshank through west. Migration inlcluded 35 Whimbrel, 2 Turtle Doves, 1 Cuckoo, 6 Swifts west, 6 Sand Martins, 64 Swallows, 3 House Martins, 1 Tree Pipit, 21 Yellow Wagtails, 20 Greenfinches, 100 Goldfinches, 40 Linnets, a Yellowhammer and 2 Redpolls west. Two Bullfinches were at the west end of Broadwater Road. Around the reserve 15 Sedge Warblers, 1 Reed Warbler, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 6 Whitethroats, 6 Chiffchaffs and 10 Willow Warblers.
Moth trapping produced 1 Hebrew Character, 2 Red Chestnuts, 1 Powdered Quaker and a Common Pug. Butterflies included a Brimstone, 4 Peacocks and 3 Large Whites.
At Redwell Marsh 7 Ruff, 6 Redshank and 2 Little Grebes were of note.
At Walsey Hills 2 Cetti's Warblers, a Reed Warbler, 3 Blackcaps and 1 Willow Warbler were around the reserve while a Hobby, 6 Yellow Wagtails and 3 Swifts flew over west. Butterflies included 2 Holly Blues, 1 Small Copper, 8 Peacocks, 2 Brimstones and a Comma.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 600+ Common Scoter on the sea, 2 Velvet Scoter and 1 adult Gannet. 8 Avocets were around the Broadwater and a Whimbrel and 2 Greenshank flew through calling. A Turtle Dove flew east along the east bank early morning, and 6 Sand Martins, 20+ Swallows, 1 House Martin and 8 Pied Wagtails were also of note. 15 Sedge Warblers, 1 Reed Warbler, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 16 Whitethroats, 7 Blackcaps, 10 Chiffchaffs and 15 Willow Warblers were counted.
Moth trapping produced 2 Hebrew Characters, 1 Small Quaker, 1 Powdered Quaker and an Angle Shades.
Thursday 24th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 6 Eider, 450+ Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers west, a superb summer plumage Great Northern Diver on the sea and then flying west into the wash, a Great Crested Grebe west, a single adult Gannet west, 10 Sandwich Terns and 2 Little Terns. Waders included 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Whimbrel and 2 Greenshank. 32 Sand Martins, 27 Swallows, 3 House Martins, 2 Tree Pipits, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 37 Goldfinches, 4 Siskins and 45+ Linnets were of note flying over. A Grasshopper Warbler was singing near the car park early morning, 10 Sedge Warblers, 4 Lesser Whitethroats, 15 Whitethroats, 7 Blackcaps, 10 Chiffchaffs and 28 Willow Warblers were between the Golf Course and the Observatory. A White Wagtail was with two Pieds on the Golf Course early morning.
Moth trapping produced a Lunar Marbled Brown, 1 Angle Shades, 1 Early Thorn and a Red Chestnut.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 3 Common Scoter. A ring-tail Hen Harrier was of note at 12.50, and 11 Avocets and a Black-tailed Godwit were around the marsh. 5 Whimbrel, 1 Sand Martin, 21 Swallows and 3 Yellow Wagtails flew over during the morning, and a Grasshopper Warbler, 3 Sedge Warblers, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 2 Chiffchaffs, a Willow Warbler and 6 Bramblings were also of note.
Monday 21st April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 5 Eider, 393 Common Scoter, 17 Fulmars, 2 Gannets and a Sandwich Tern. A passage of over 100 Swallows was recorded during the morning and 3 Avocets, 5 Whimbrel and a Greenshank were also counted. A Cuckoo was in the dunes, 2 Yellow Wagtails flew over calling and 7 Wheatears were counted between Old Hunstanton and the dunes. A male Redstart was in the paddocks. 2 Sedge Warblers were singing in the reeds and a Blackcap, 6 Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler were also of note. 7 Bramblings and a Siskin were in the pines and 37 Linnets flew over west.
Moth trapping produced a Shoulder Stripe and 2 Red Chestnuts. A Brimstone butterfly and two Peacocks were also of note.
On Redwell Marsh 7 Ruff were of interest.
Sunday 20th April 2008
At Holme NOA a Greenshank and 3 Whimbrel were of note over the marsh, 16 Swallows flew through, a Stonechat was in the dunes and 3 Redstarts were in the paddocks at the east end. A Grasshopper Warbler was reeling in the Car Park early morning, and at least 3 Sedge Warblers were singing in the reeds. Two Chiffchaffs and a Willow Warbler were also of note. At least 7 Bramblings were around the feeding station. 29 Swallows flew through east.
At Walsey Hills NOA 2 Ring Ouzels were in the field south of the reserve, a Reed Warbler was on Snipe's Marsh. 2 Cetti's Warbler were of note and a Willow Warbler was singing. A single Adder was on the bank.
Saturday 19th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Sandwich Terns and 6 Gannets east. A single Sand Martin and Swallow and 3 Whimbrel flew through west and 54 Linnets were also counted. A Cuckoo was on the Golf Course late morning and a Yellow Wagtail and 2 Tree Sparrows were also of note. 6 Tree Sparrows were in the paddocks and at least 3 Redstarts were also of note. A male Stonechat was in the dunes. On the reserve a Sedge Warbler was singing occasionally from the reeds and at least 10 Bramblings were in the pines. A Firecrest was seen but remained elusive during the day.
On Redwell Marsh 6 Ruff and a Black-tailed Godwit were of note. A single Sand Martin flew through east.
Friday 18th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 12 Common Scoter, 5 Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Fulmars and 14 adult Gannets. Two Red-crested Pochards were again around the broadwater and a Green Sandpiper flew over Gore Point. Two Redstarts and a Tree Sparrow were in the paddocks, and a Marsh Harrier was hunting. 3 Blackcaps, 4 Chiffchaffs, 3 Willow Warblers and 12 Bramblings were also of note.
Moth trapping produced a single Red Chestnut.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, an adult Gannet and 2 Sandwich Terns east. A Yellow Wagtail flew through east and a female Black Redstart was seen along Thornham Bank early afternoon. In the paddocks 2 Willow Warblers were singing and a pair of Redstarts were noted. A Stonechat was also of note.
Moth trapping produced 1 Shoulder Stripe, 1 Hebrew Character, 1 COmmon Quaker, 1 Red Chestnut and 1 Clouded Drab.
At Redwell Marsh 12 Ruff were on the marsh and a male Ring Ouzel was also present. 6 Swallows and 6 House Martins were counted, and a Yellow Wagtail was also on the marsh.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 19 Eider, 173 Common Scoter and 6 Fulmars. On the marsh 7 Pink-footed Geese were still present and 10 Avocets were of note. A Marsh Harrier, 1 Barn Owl, 1 Common Buzzard and a Hobby were of note, and 4 Swallows, 1 Tree Pipit, 36 Meadow Pipits, 6 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Pied Wagtails, 2 Siskins and 39 Linnets flew through west. 10+ Bramblings were still around the reserve and 4 Chiffchaffs and a Sedge Warbler were singing on the site.
A Pale Pinion and a Red Chestnut were in the moth traps.
On Redwell Marsh a Green Sandpiper and a single Ruff were of note together with 2 Swallows.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 2 Common Scoter ,12 Fulmar and a single Gannet. A Spotted Redshank flew over calling and at least 9 Swallows flew through west. At least 20 Bramblings were in the pines feeding and 37 Goldfinches, a male Siskin and 45 Linnets were also of note.
A Speckled Wood was in the pines and 2 Small Quakers, an Engrailed, an Early Thorn, 2 Hebrew Characters and a Red Chestnut were in the moth traps.

A Marsh Harrier was soaring and 3 Avocets and 2 Black-tailed Godwits were of note on the marsh. 3 Sand Martins, 7 Swallows and a House Martin passed through during the morning together with a passage of 47 Meadow Pipits, 3 Yellow Wagtails, 28 Goldfinches, 7 Siskins, 2 Redpolls and 43 Linnets. 5 Chiffchaffs, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Sedge Warbler were around the reserve and 2 Red-crested Pochards were again on the Broadwater.
Moth trapping produced 2 Hebrew Characters, 5 Red Chestnuts and a Small Quaker. A Peacock butterfly was also of note.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 7 Eider, 3 Common Scoter, 8 Great Crested Grebes and a single Fulmar west. At least two Firecrests were still around the pines with one male singing. A Willow Warbler was also singing and at least 8 Chiffchaffs, 2 Willow Warblers, 2 Swallows, 20+ Bramblings and 3 Siskins were of note. A single Pink-footed Goose was still on the marsh as were at least 25 Brents. Two Red-crested Pochards were still on the Broadwater and a Yellow Wagtail flew west over Gore Point. 2 Marsh Harriers, a Sparrowhawk, a Kestrel and a Barn Owl were noted during the day, and a Green Woodpecker and a male Yellowhammer were around the Golf Course. A Ring-tail Harrier sp was also noted there early morning. A single Stonechat was at the back of the paddocks.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 9 Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers and 3 Great Crested Grebes. On the marsh 2 Little Egrets and a female Marsh Harrier were of note, together with 12 Avocets and a single Whimbrel over south. Two Red-crested Pochards were seen on the Broadwater in the morning, and a House Martin and four Swallows flew over. A male Firecrest was around the Observatory singing and a Willow Warbler was also on the reserve. At least 8 Bramblings were still around the pines and 65 Linnets flew over west.
Moth trapping produced 4 Red Chestnuts, 2 Hebrew Characters, 2 Common Quakers, 1 Clouded Drab, 1 Oak Beauty and 1 Diurnea fagella.
Thursday 10th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 2 Eider, 11 Common Scoter, 1 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 5 Fulmars, 1 Gannet and a Tern species out at sea. On the reserve at least 2 Firecrests were seen during the day, and at least 10 Bramblings were still present. A Barn Owl was hunting the marsh. Passage included 3 Sand Martins and 4 Swallows together with 32 Meadow Pipits and 4 Pied Wagtails, a male Stonechat was in the dunes, 6 Chiffchaffs, 1 Willow Warbler and a Jay were also of note, and a movement of 52 Goldfinches, 8 Siskins, 2 Repolls and 25 Linnets was also recorded.
Moth trapping produced 20 moths of 7 Species, including an Oak Beauty. 3 Peacocks and a Brimstone butterfly were also noted.
At Redwell Marsh a Willow Warbler was singing by the river, a Dunlin and 10 Redshank were around the marsh and a female Marsh Harrier was hunting. 14 Sand Martins and 4 Swallows were on the wires.
Wednesday 9th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 5 Eider, 60 Common Scoter, 7 Red-breasted Mergansers, 1 Great Crested Grebe and a Fulmar west. 3 Little Egrets, 1 Marsh Harrier, 2 Avocets and a Greenshank were of note and a Tawny Owl was calling from the pines. A male Firecrest was ringed at midday and still in the area mid afternoon. 3 Swallows, 58 Meadow Pipits, 4 Siskins and a Redpoll flew over west, while at least 7 Bramblings remained around the pines.
A hatching of 15 Emperor moths was of note, and moth trapping produced an Oak Beauty, 3 Hebrew Characters, 1 Common Quaker, 1 Red Chestnut and 3 Diurnea fagella. A Peacock butterfly was also of interest.
Tuesday 8th April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 10 Eider, 11 Common Scoter, a female Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Great Crested Grebe. 2 Marsh Harriers, 2 Sparrowhawks, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel and a Hobby were noted. 6 Avocets were around the marsh and 7 Sand Martins and 2 Swallows flew through west. A Firecrest was in the buddlea near the Observatory late afternoon. 7 Bramblings and 4 Siskins were also of interest.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced a drake Eider east, 1 Common Scoter east and a Great Northern Diver off Gore Point. 9 Sand Martin and 2 Swallows flew through during the day, and at least 6 Bramblings remained. 6 Siskins and 3 Redpolls flew over and a Chiffchaff was singing. There was no sign of the two Firecrests by early afternoon.
Moth trapping produced 1 Shoulder Stripe, 3 Early Thorns, 2 Oak Beauties, 4 Common Quakers, 1 Clouded Drab and 4 Diurnea fagella. A Small Tortoiseshell was also of note.

At Holme NOA 2 Firecrests were still around the reserve all day. Finch migration included 67 Bramblings, 34 Goldfinches, 2 Siskins, 13 Linnets, a single Redpoll and 2 Crossbills west. 3 Sand Martins flew through east early morning and a Short-eared Owl was hunting the marsh mid afternoon. A Hobby flew through east and a female Marsh Harrier was hunting. On the marsh 7 Black-tailed Godwits, 9 Avocets and 85 Brent Geese were counted together with 5 late-staying Pink-footed Geese.
Moth trapping included a Pale Pinion and Pine Beauty.
Wednesday 2nd April 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 4 Eider, 1 Long-tailed Duck, 320 Common Scoter, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers and a single Sandwich Tern west. A visible raptor migration included a ring-tail Montagu's Harrier, Red Kite and 3 Common Buzzards. Of note on the marsh were 3 Black-tailed Godwits, 6 Avocets and 2 Snipe. 2 Barn Owls and a Short-eared Owl were seen during the day, and five Common Cranes were followed heading west along the ridge. 14 Sand Martins and 4 Swallows flew through together with 85 Meadow Pipits, 16 Pied Wagtails, 15 Carrion Crows, 2 Tree Sparrows, 58 Bramblings, 14 Siskins, 25 Linnets and a Lesser Redpoll. At least 2 Firecrests were still around the reserve and 4 Chiffchaffs were also noted.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 34 Eider, 110 Common Scoter, 2 Goldeneye, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Fulmars and 2 Sandwich Terns. A female Firecrest was near the Heligoland trap mid afternoon, 4 Stonechats were in the dunes and at least 14 Bramblings were in the pines on the reserve. A single Swallow flew through east.
An Oak Beauty, 2 Hebrew Characters and a Common Quaker were in the moth traps.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 drake Eider on the sea, 2 Common Scoter west, a drake Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Great Crested Grebes and 5 Fulmars west. Little Egret and Grey Heron were around the marsh, and a flock of 130+ Brent Geese, 18 Avocets, 82 Oystercatchers, a Snipe, 20 Bar-tailed Godwits, 58 Curlew and 24 Redshank were counted. 2 Barn Owls, a female Marsh Harrier and a Common Buzzard were also of note. 2 Sand Martins, 27 Skylarks, 56 Meadow Pipits, 4 Pied Wagtails, 2 Tree Sparrows, 2 Siskins, 8 Linnets and a Reed Bunting flew through west, while a male Blackcap and 3 Bramblings were in the scrub near the dell hide on the reserve. A Wheatear was in the dunes. At least 2 Firecrests and 2 Chiffchaffs were in the pines either side of the coast path behind the Observatory.
A good selection of spring butterflies were seen including 3 Brimstones, 2 Small Tortoiseshells, 1 Comma, 1 Peacock and a Red Admiral.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 11 Eider, 2 Long-tailed Ducks, 8 Red-breasted Mergansers, 1 Red-throated Diver, 11 Great Crested Grebes and 4 Fulmars. A female Merlin and 9 Tree Sparrows were at Gore Point early morning, and a Barn Owl was hunting mid afternoon. 22 Skylarks, 44 Meadow Pipits, 12 Pied Wagtails, 17 Carrion Crows, 4 Siskins and 25 Linnets flew over west, and in the pines 25+ Goldcrests and 3+ Firecrests were of note, with at least 2 Firecrests showing there for much of the day. 2+ Bramblings were at the feeding station. A Comma and 2 Small Tortoiseshell butterflies were also of interest.
At Walsey Hills NOA a Firecrest was in the scrub by the steps, 2 Sandwich Terns were on floods south of Arnold's Marsh, a Swallow flew through west, a Chiffchaff was in the scrub, 2 Cetti's Warblers were calling, and an adder and a Comma butterfly were also of interest.

A female Marsh Harrier was around the marsh and a Barn Owl was hunting early morning. 137 Meadow Pipits flew through west, together with 5 Pied Wagtails and a single White Wagtail. 3 Stonechats were in the dunes and in the scrub 8 Goldcrests and 2 Firecrests were noted near the Observatory. At least 5 Bramblings were at the feeding station.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Eider, 20 Long-tailed Ducks, 111 Common Scoter, 2 Goldeneye, 16 Red-breasted Mergansers, 1 Great Northern Diver, 14 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Fulmars and an adult Med Gull on the beach. A male Marsh Harrier and a Barn Owl were of note, and 8 Stonechats were counted. A Great White Egret was seen at the back of Holme Marsh early morning, 8 Redwings were in the village and a flock of 2,268 Starlings was seen heading east over the marsh.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 6 Eider, 3 Long-tailed Ducks, 9 Common Scoter, 6 Red-breasted Mergansers, 16 Great Crested Grebes and a summer plumage Slavonian Grebe. An adult Med Gull flew west along the beach. Around the reserve a Barn Owl, 4+ Stonechats, 1 Fieldfare and 6+ Bramblings were counted, while a Peregrine and a Short-eared Owl were seen over the marsh. A Chiffchaff and 3 Goldcrests were also of note.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced a single Long-tailed Duck off Gore Point, a Red-breasted Merganser on Thornham Channel, a single Red-throated Diver just offshore and a single Great Crested Grebe west. An adult Med Gull was feeding on the beach. Around the reserve 3+ Stonechats were around the east bank and a Barn Owl was seen several times during the day just near the Observatory. A Chiffchaff was in the scrub and at least 6 Bramblings were around the feeding station.

At Walsey Hills a Tawny Owl, 1 Cetti's Warbler, 2 Water Rails, 70 Golden Plover and a Great Spotted Woodpecker were of note, a male Marsh Harrier was hunting and 3 Shorelark were again on the shingle behind Arnold's Marsh.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 2 Kittiwakes west and over 1000 gulls on the beach. 4 Stonechats were around the Observatory and 2 Bramblings and a Goldcrest were in the scrub.
At Walsey Hills NOA a Cetti's Warbler was in the scrub and 50+ Yellowhammers were in a field behind the reserve. 2 Marsh Harriers and a male Sparrowhawk were also of note. 2 First Winter Little Gulls were reported on Arnold's Marsh.
Wednesday 19th March 2008
At Holme NOA 6 Avocets were around the Broadwater and 5+ Stonechats were in the area. A Fieldfare was in the scrub and at least 6 Bramblings were around the pines. A Peregrine flew east mid afternoon and a Barn Owl was hunting.
Tuesday 18th March 2008
At Holme NOA seawatching produced 1 Red-breasted Merganser and 1 Great Crested Grebe west. 6 Avocets were of note around the marsh together with 150+ Brent Geese and 250+ Wigeon. 4 Stonechats were again around the Observatory and a Chiffchaff was in the scrub, while 12 Bramblings were around the feeding station.

At Holme NOA seawatching produced 15 Common Scoter. A Hooded Crow was seen around the marsh and drifted south at around 12.10. A Ruddy Duck and a Great Crested Grebe were on the Broadwater, and 8 Avocets were on the marsh. 17 Golden Plover flew through east and at least 4 Stonechats were along the east bank. A Barn Owl and a female Marsh Harrier were hunting, and on the reserve 2 Fieldfares ,3 Chiffchaffs, 25 Goldcrests and 15 Bramblings were of note.
A Hebrew Character and 1 Agonopterix ocellana were in the moth trap.

At Holme NOA despite the bad weather seawatching produced 11 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Great Crested Grebes and a single Fulmar, while a Marsh Harrier was of note over the marsh. 8 Avocets and 20+ Shoveler were on the Broadwater and 40+ Brent Geese were still on the marsh. 2 Mistle Thrushes were in the car park and on the reserve 6 Chiffchaffs, 20+ Goldcrests, 30+ Long-tailed Tits and 7 Bramblings were of note.
